Heather Feather is a Kindie (Kids + Indie) Artist from Mount Pearl, Newfoundland, based in Montreal, QC. Her toe-tapping music, energetic personality, and highly interactive shows will have everyone singing along. Her “Songs for Growing” (2022) has been described as “delightful songs and potent melodies.” Heather’s second album, “Together” (June 2025), an upbeat mix of funk, pop, and jazz tunes on the themes of inclusion, acceptance, and belonging, and offers an inclusive musical world where every child feels seen, celebrated, and empowered. Crafted with intention, intelligence, and a touch of magic, her songs are composed for kids yet resonate deeply with listeners of all ages. She is a 2025 East Coast Music Awards winner of (Children’s Artist of the Year), and a 2023 MusicNL nominee (Jazz Album of the Year). Heather holds a PhD in Music Theory from McGill University, is a Member of the Leadership Team of the Board of Directors of The Children’s Music Network and is a speaker and representative for RAMPD, Recording Artists and Music Professionals with Disabilities. Heather has performed for small audiences at libraries, large ones at festivals, and everything in between, in Montreal, across the East Coast of Canada, and in Brooklyn, NY.

BIOGRAPHY

Heather Feather’s toe-tapping music and sunny, energetic personality will have the whole family singing and dancing along. Her songs are not only joyful and fun, but also encourage physical, cognitive, social, and emotional development in children of all ages. Her award-winning 2022 album, Songs for Growing, is filled with "delightful songs and potent melodies all topped off with a lavish production. The vocals are sublime, as are the lyrics which dramatize the music superbly.” (Dez Staunton, Electric Kids Music), while CBC’s Sonali Karnick noted that her song, “appeal to kid’s intelligence.” Songs for Growing was awarded two Artist Development Grants from FACTOR and helped launch her career as a full-time performing artist and a highly sought-after Teaching Artist in preschools, schools, and community groups. With Songs for Growing, Heather was nominated for the 2023 and 2025 East Coast Music Awards Children's Entertainer of the Year, 2023 Music NL Jazz Album of the Year, and she won two awards in the Funky Kids Radio Awards in Australia. Heather Feather's music blends her Newfoundland roots and her adopted Montreal home, and she performs in English and French. Her second album “Together” (June 2025), in collaboration with Grammy-award Kindie producer Dean Jones, features a blend of upbeat funk, pop, R&B, and jazz tunes about inclusion, acceptance, and belonging. For this album, Heather was delighted to receive full funding from the Canada Council for the Arts. Heather has performed for small audiences at libraries, large ones at festivals, and everything in between, in Montreal, across the East Coast of Canada, and in Brooklyn, NY. She is a strong advocate for children and promotes diversity and inclusion through her music. She is part of the Leadership Team of the Board of Directors of The Children's Music Network and presented at the 2024 international conference on writing developmentally appropriate and growth-promoting educational music for young children, “Hitting all the Milestones: Fostering Growth of the Whole Child Through Music”. As a disabled artist (multiple sclerosis), Heather presents on behalf of RAMPD.org, Recording Artists and Music Professionals with disabilities, most recently speaking at Folk Alliance International 2025 as part of the panel on Navigating Disability Culture and Access in the Music Industry with Charlie Mosbrook and Jai Yoko. She is also a published author and holds a PhD in Music Theory from McGill University.
